If you had to go with only one brand of computers for the rest of your life, what brand would that be and why? (Yes, I ask the tough questions. Wink )

Okay, one question before I answer this.

Am I allowed to switch if the brand goes out of business? I have the feeling my brand of choice might not last long. :(

Yep. What brand is it that you don't think will last long? The one you're building your new computer from?

Each individual part in my new computer has its own brand, so no one brand would describe it.

The brand I think isn't going to last long is Dell. Every PC in my family that works is a Dell, and I really like Dell PCs. However, they are getting increasingly negative reviews from PCWorld and similar magazines.

However, I still think Dell is my brand of choice for pre-built PCs. If Dell goes out of business, which I really hope doesn't happen, I'll have to find something else.

(Quick hint: when buying from Dell, don't buy a "Home" PC, buy a "Small Business" PC. They're better)

Ah...... Okay. I just happen to remember you saying something about a specific brand when you first started talking about building your own computer. So, that must still be somewhere in the back of my head. Wink

REALLY? Dell? Wow... I'm feel a bit behind. Haha, I had no idea that Dell was getting negative feedback. Weren't they considered a high standard computer company at one time? I may be thinking of another. *shrugs* I really need to pay more attention. Rolling Eyes Wink

(Oh, okay, thanks. I happen to be looking into possibly getting a new computer soon. So, that may help. =)

Well, one of the big questions when you build a PC is, "AMD or Intel?" AMD and Intel are both brands, and I chose an Intel processor for my PC. So, because I'm using an Intel CPU, I need to use an Intel-compatible motherboard, Intel-compatible RAM, and so on.

So, my choice in processor really shaped the rest of my parts list.

Yeah, Dell is doing poorly right now. It seems like every good company does this. Sometimes you're the best, sometimes you're the worst. However, right now Dell isn't quite worst. HP has that not-exactly-coveted position.

It's the same way with AMD and Intel. AMD used to be the best, but right now, Intel has that title. So, AMD is doing poorly. But, they'll bounce back, and I hope Dell will.

Home computers are okay if you want to surf the internet and listen to music, but business PCs are more reliable. Of the computers I have, the home PCs are the ones I like least, and the business ones, like my laptop, are the ones I depend on.

Only on light waves. And even then, only on the internet. As you may have heard, surfing on light is dangerous. Smile

I wish the USS Constellation were here, then I'd be able to do that. Smile

(If you haven't a clue about the Constellation, read the spoiler)

Spoiler:
The USS Constellation is my ship in the video game Star Trek Online. It's more of a flying city than a warship, really. It can hold 5,000 people at once, and needs at least 2,500 to be operational. It's much bigger than the Enterprise E, and makes Voyager look like an escape pod.
